Mitchell Eckert
EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR
Mitchell is a Circus Artist specializing in Aerial Hoop, with secondary disciplines in Aerial Net, Rope, Straps, Dance, Adagio, and Acrobatics. Raised in Calgary, he grew up as a Contemporary dancer in his youth and developed a passion for creativity—thinking outside the box, and being upside down. Mitchell has a background in all styles of dance, as well as Gymnastics, Sport Acrobatics, and Horse Vaulting.
Mitchell moved to Vancouver, Canada in 2019 to attend the “Artist Preparatory Program” with ‘The Circus Lab—a post-secondary circus program. Graduating in 2022, he was immediately contracted with Carnival Cruise Lines as an aerial swing and returned in 2023 as lead male aerialist and Aerial Captain. During this time, Mitchell discovered a love for Aerial Hoop, creating an act that earned him a 2024 audition with Cirque du Soleil at ‘Complement de Cirque’ followed by a contract with Virgin Voyages by les 7 doigts (7 Fingers).
Mitchell’s Career highlights have been in 2025 as he finished up his contract with Virgin and took off officially as an international performer. In 2025 he performed in the Alberta Circus Festival with ‘North x Northwest Cabaret’, Salieri Circus Award in Verona, Italy, and finished off the year with his debut contract with Cirque du Soleil’s ‘Cirque Dreams Holidaze’ show' for a US tour!
Other companies he has performed with include; The Calgary Stampede, Le Cirque de la Nuit, NZR Productions, G-Labs entertainment, Cirque Lucid, and been a guest artist in multiple queer events and mental health fundraisers in Canada.
Mitchell has always been a deeply creative individual with complex ideas and the amazing ability to dive into a project and always put his full heart and body into it. Being a kid, he used to love to sit, watch, observe people, and daydream for hours on end. As a Contemporary artist, Mitchell prides himself in being an individual who desires to create and innovate his own movement and always find a way to stand out, be different, think outside the box, and always tie his movement to his emotions and his heart. His love for creation and collaboration is what led him to start ‘Cirque Lucid’ as an entertainment company to finally bring all his lucid dreams to reality.
When not up in the air or on stage, Mitchell enjoys working with new artists as either a coach, mentor, choreographer, and loves teaching workshops and sharing his work to help other artists find their own flow. When he’s not around the circus at all, you can often find him journalling or listening to his favourite podcast at any cute cafe around the world—with a Lavender Latte in hand.

Gerardo Balderas Figueroa
ASSOCIATE PRODUCER
Gerardo a Mexican Canadian artist based in Calgary AB. He trained as a martial artist (taekwondo) for 15 years and his artistic career began as a visual artist. In 2014, he found aerial arts during the beginning of his undergraduate studies.
After tasting the freedom of flying, his athletic and artistic pursuits quickly transitioned into focusing his energy into circus arts. He initially trained as an aerial hoop specialist but has since explored a wide range of disciplines: aerial pole, handbalancing, rope, chains, and duo straps.
Throughout his career he has had the opportunity to train, coach, and perform in Mexico, USA, and Canada. In recent years he has explored new avenues of performance which have led him to explore opportunities where he can introduce queer and latin flare to his work.
Thus, in collaboration with other Canadian artists, he has been involved in the development of new performance opportunities through founding “G.Labs”; a primarily erotic and queer venture that seeks to guide new talent navigate show business.
In addition, Gerardo is passionate about intersectionality, the development of fair and professional opportunities for established and upcoming artists and thus has joined forces with other Mitchell Eckert and Sarah The Aerialist to create “Cirque Lucid”.
Overall, he hopes to take his audience into a ride where they will experience the beautiful tragedy of a broken heart, the obscure contemporary depiction of human experience, or the unapologetically seductive nature of queer art. Regardless of the destination, he hopes you enjoy the journey because, at the end of the day, life is a circus.
